Shavegasm. When you go “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that felt goouuuuuuuuudddddd!” when the shave is done. And smelling fanfrackingtastic to boot. Yups, CK-6, Dior Sauvage scent, Tatara precision smoothness. The only nickpick I have is the blade, its not bad, but I should have used The Sword of Achilles, then it would have been truly orgasmic.

Face Freeze! I cannot recommend anyone who is not a menth-head to use this soap. Seriously. Or any of Stirling’s Glacial line. But if you are, and you love that menthol hit that straddles that line between pain and pleasure, this is just the thing for you. Scent is sweet anise which reminds me of the Hacks Black cough drops. Good stuff.
Went with the old girl, the 6S paired with a Tiger Platinum. It’s an ok blade, not great but not bad, similar to but much less smooth than Derby Premiums. I’ll be using them as one day blades.

It’s December! And Christmas will be soon upon us!
I hope it is a time for healing, for letting go of hate, to be able to see clearly the past, the possible future and change what you need to do in the present, like a certain Mr Scrooge , and find a new, better path moving forward.
Its also a time for when we all start to use “Christmas” themed stuff, including shaving gear! Thus this time bringing forth my one and only year end holiday-centric soap (for now), Irena’s Festivus.
Scent notes for this is : citrus, musk, apples, rum, cedar and iris
And yes, it’s as good it sounds and it pairs really well with Clubman’s Tequila Tease aftershave with that Tequila and Vanilla forward scent. It’s fast becoming one of my favorites from the Clubman’s Reserve line.
Also, I am really loving the textured bowl. | Its really cheap, something I picked up at the local bargain store. And with a little elbow grease, some sandpaper, it’s become a lathering monster.
I mean, some of you guys have seen many of my old lather porn, and to be fair, Irena’s Tallow based soap is fantastic stuff, but holy crap, to say that the bowl helped is kind of understating it.
Went with the Vector armed with a feather blade. No surprises that it’s a perfect, clean “I keep touching myself” BBS shave.
Off day shave and I was thinking of heading to the Pool for a swim. So its a face and body shave (think Speedos) and brought out the 26mm SHD brush. I think my sweet spot is the 24mm SHD, the 26mm SHD is extremely dense and is actually quite huge, great for the dome or like now, when I want to cover larger areas of the body.
Also, really loving the Stainless Steel mixing bowl, its not the most photogenic, definitely not “bling” shaveware costing only $2 but after creating a micro textured surface that is literally anti skid to the touch by first sanding the inner surface with a mid grade sandpaper, then smoothing it out a little with fine grade sandpaper, this thing is a lathering monster.
Helps that Long Rifle’s soap base makes extremely thick and slick stuff and I really like this one with its Rosemary, Mint and Tea Tree scent. The default menthol level is very mild, just a hint, so I ground in a bit more to get that just below glacial feel.
The Vector is perfect for today’s shave, need that precision and mild head. Just saying. Perfect, true glass, faceturbation BBS shave. Now its off for a swim!

Doug, going back to that old convo, LOVE THIS LABEL! I’d love to see more “Adventures in Shaving” labels to be honest.
While some may poopoo the idea of eye catching labels, one cannot discount how much scents with just a little visual suggestion can transport a person to another time and place. In this case, deep in the Mayan Jungle circa beginning of the 1600s – 1700s during the age of exploration. Or late 1920s – 1930s Indiana Jones rock em, sock em, Archeology baby!
Scent in essence, is Dark Fruity Incense. A Rich, deep, dark incense woods note, with that almost black currant, fruity aroma along with a touch of sage-isk note makes this one of my favorite cold weather scents.
Chose to go with the Vector today. I know some don’t like how mild it feels but I love it. Smooth, easy, very precise and getting that “faceturbation worthy” perfect BBS shave is all but guaranteed.

Some scents are universal. You can use it in Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, in the office, at the gym or just chilling at home. Smelling great at all times, anytime. Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver to me is one such. Citrus, spice, amber, oakmoss and vetiver makes for a very heady, very timeless scent that you can enjoy no mater where you are, at anytime.
And yes, I’m using the WTF Tallow Puck. Don do have them but not for all his scents which is a pity as I do enjoy these slightly more. If you want these, get them while he still has them.
Went with the CATA-DOC and the Super Max Diamon Edge, one of my “Feather Alternatives” and the combo performed flawlessly, taking growth off like its not there. Hardly any blade feel as you buff and shave by audio feedback. You’ll know when there’s hardly anything left to take off.
One of the best scent to be released in 2010, it’s been ten years and its still one of best smelling software you can get. Of course buying the Original Creed can set you back a hefty penny, Going for about US$320-$350 +/- for a 100ml bottle. Or you can just go with any of many artisans who do have a duplication of the scent via soap, aftershaves and other various ways to make you smell like money.
PAA’s Doppelganger Grey is one of those and is close enough that it is almost spot on, depending on which batch of Aventus you are comparing it to. And Doug has got the “Full Monty” for those who want to go that route. And while I no longer buy Creed or choose not to since the Arabic perfumers are pretty good at cloning scents with very high quality juice at a fraction of the price, I went with Al Haramain’s L’Aventure, which to my nose is an extremely good reproduction of one of the best Aventus batches and while Armaf’s CDNI is hyped up by many, I prefer the Al Haramain’s version as it holds that fruity note long into the mids and drydown meshing into the birch giving it that smokey pineapple vibe far longer then CDNI. YMMV of course, especially when it comes to scents.
Went with the CATA-DOC with the Sword of Achilles, riding on that CK-6 lather … WHOOOOOOO!!! Yeah, perfect, zero irritation, true glass, “I keep touching myself” faceturbation worthy shave.
Post Shave : PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum Aftershave Cologne
Going to be a rather busy, sweaty and physical work day so kept it simple with one of the best of not the best bay rum in the market. Going with the Model T and ever since it has been replaced, it’s definitely much more enjoyable to use, going from rough and very aggressively blade forward to quite smooth with some blade feel.

I want to preface this to first just say that making soaps and matching scents aren’t the easiest nor the most perfect of arts. So sometimes things don’t go as expected and even more so when it has to do with scents that has “secret notes” as many Perfumeries tend not to spill all the beans as to what make a specific scent of theirs smell the way it does.
So, this morning’s shave kinda bugged me. I remember the original Eau Sauvage to be a very fresh lemony scent and when Dior finally came out with a EDP version of it in 2012, I jumped on it, and I remember at first I HATED it as it wasn’t the same scent as the Original Eau Sauvage’s fresh lemon. In time I became used to, and loved the “Myrrh bomb” as I used to call it, going through several bottles of it.
Fast forward to 2017, 2 years after Dior released Dior Sauvage (you know, the one with Johnny Depp plastered all over its advertisements) and again I jumped on getting the newly released EDP when Dior announced a new reformulation of Eau Sauvage EDP. By now I had, in my mind, I had associated Myrrh with the scent. Not having used the EDT for years now.
So this morning, when I said that Eau Sauvage was Lemon and Myrrh, I was wrong. Or at least, wrong if I am referring to the original EDT releases.
The EDT is a very different animal and, to be honest, I could only remember that it was “fresh lemon and woods” but wasn’t sure if it had Myrrh. So I went out and bought a bottle of Dior Eau Sauvage EDT.
And no. It does not have Myrrh.
So, back to Irena’s take on the scent. Is it “Eau Sauvage”? It is close but there is enough of a difference that it is noticeable.
The DNA is definitely there, but there’s something off and I can’t put my finger on it. It definitely needed a bit more of that fresh lemon to pop and there is that note that is either ambroxan or mimicking ambroxan that you immediately think of the 2015 Sauvage.
Still, this is the closest to, if not the only soap as far as I know to resemble the original Eau Sauvage EDT and for that I am thankful of its existence.
Had a fantastic shave, feeling great and smelling epically awesome. Wife will definitely raise eyebrows. 😛

Today’s Frankensteinian shave has scents going all over the place.
I really love Ginger’s Garden soaps, especially her tallow soaps which always generates that beautiful, thick, slick lather, though this time, I think there might have been some confusion when the scent was mixed.
Dior Eau Sauvage (1966 / 2012 / 2017) is a lemon and myrrh scent vs the more recent Dior Sauvage’s (2015) spiced ambroxan. (I am oversimplifying the scent notes to its bare basics) Still smells great but its more the 2015 scent.
Went with the Zero Zero Masamune again. Just using what works for me. Easy work day shave, finishing up with that fresh green mint Skin Bracer (and quite a bit of it!) to the face.
