Still on that Old Shulton. Amazingly my old vintage bottle of juice is still good, and hasn’t gone bad yet, and the difference it smells compared to today’s P&G version knocks P&G’s (I don’t think you can get Old Spice EDTs anymore) scent for the hollow shell of the original that P&G’s is.
Really heavy on the nutmeg, cinnamon and anise, it still smells freakingly amazing.
Soap Commander’s Endurance’s scent as close to that Old Shulton that I have come across so far. If you are one to not like the alcohol burn that you get from PAA’s AS but want that old Shulton scent Soap Commander has just that right amount of nutmeg, cinnamon, along with the orange, hint of vanilla, anise and all the other notes that screams “Old Shulton Old Spice!”
Especially the AS and balm, as they carry the scent more accurately than the soap.
Both AS and balm goes onto the skin easy, smells wonderfully great and those who have more sensitive skin and do not want that “Home alone HOLY CRAP!!” reaction when the AS goes on, will appreciate these more
The whole set, soap, splash and balm (and the EDT) is just such a joy to use. Smelling fantastically great, and with the Tatara that always gives that perfect BBS, feeling pretty epic.

One of my Favorite scents. The Old Shulton. Going to just load heavy and hopefully finish it this sometime this year and get me some CK6 Cold Spices when I finally clear out the tub.

Wanted another cool shave and with it a “cool” scent and one of the best cool aquatic scents out there is Chanel Bleu.
I have to say though, I really, really love the hard puck, Monica, you really have winner here. Lathers easy, very forgiving and able to take a lot of water, though one should keep the lather at the usual yogurt consistency, holds it’s scent and feels damn good on the face.
Grind in a little menthol, lathered in a bowl and took my favorite girl, the Tatara, to the face and this was one really enjoyable shave. And smelling effing fantastic, is just icing on top.

Going PAA Supreme Sandalwood Science Full Monty! Faceterbate time!
Still on the Nodachi-plate+Masamune-cap for the Tatara (0.90mm gap, negative -0.03mm exposure geometry) with the Dorco Prime. Had a tiny weeper where the blade must have met part of the face that was uneven enough for the blade to catch. Didn’t even felt the blade take off skin.
After using this setup for a while now, I can say that it’s definitely more suited than the default Nodachi if you want to use it as a daily shaver. Extremely efficient due to the gap, and the angle of the blade and blade exposure keeps the razor from being harsh on the face. However, I might be more inclined towards the Masamune-plate+Nodachi-cap setup for dailies if only because with the smaller gap and while the blade is slightly more forward being true neutral, it is more forgiving of uneven face contours or if you made the mistake of pressing in a little more then your should. Both setups are extremely smooth and as in all things shaving YMMV.
Smelling great, and true glass BBS shave so good woody’s about to pass out touching himself.

Black Dragon is a Dragon’s Blood type scent. Cedar-wood, orange, patchouli, rose, jasmine, lilac, blood orange and grapefruit.
Been awhile since I used this one, that’s the trouble when you have a number of soaps, it takes time to cycle through all of them. Love this scent, its still one of the more awesome aromatic soaps I have and still smells as fantastically good as I remembered it to be. Pairing it with Davidoff’s Amber Blend which is Amber and Spice was a no brainer.
Didn’t shave last night as I came home late and was exhausted, so had quite a bit of stubble which annoyingly itched like heck. Went with the more aggressive standard Nodachi configuration and did a two pass shave. XTG, ATG. A little blade feel, but was still very comfortable. Usual BBS results from the razor. Good stuff.

TLDR : Rockwell 6S/C is still my recommended first buy for any wetshaver.
Went back to the old girl the Rockwell 6S with the R3 plate and was reminded just how smooth and comfortable this shaver is. And it’s shave geometry is probably one in a million since the Lord blade that is somewhat lackluster in most of my other razors (except the Ascension and Tatara Nodachi-Masamune) performed surprisingly well and felt very smooth.
If you have a 6C/S you really don’t need another razor, you’ll want to buy others of course, but you probably won’t need one.
Proraso Green as always made the shave a very refreshing one and since I still have to go to work even though it’s a public holiday, decided to wear Creed Spice and Woods for that something extra.
Smelling great, feeling great. Ready to rock the day.

Whelp, the Shaving Bowl is doing a celebratory PAA Birthday shave for Douglas, though it is also Jeremy’s birthday, so happy birthday the two of you.
Figured I go with the one scent that Doug has stated his True love (other than Sandalwood) Bay Rum. And this will be the scent that I’ll be wearing for the family Chinese New Year Re-Union Dinner. Time to layer on the awesome!
TLDR : Zingari Man soaps good. Try them. Derby USTAs are NOT Derby Extras and are actually much closer to Derby Premiums.
Been a while since I used Lothario. Simple but wonderful scent of Tobacco, bay and bergamot and it lathers into one of the slickest, most luxurious cream (going to bet those who have used Zingari Man are nodding their heads) to go onto your face. Good stuff. Zingari Man is great for the shave where you want the scent to stay only for the shave and you go on to layer your own scent later. Very unintrusive, but not weak, you get a good whiff and when you are done with the shave, the scent only stays on for a short while and it’s gone.
I think Derby really should rethink their box design for the USTAs and get away from the “Derby Green”. While the new “Extras” are now White and Blue (no haven’t used them, don’t intend to unless I can find them as a sample purchase) USTAs with the old Derby Green packaging will lead those who have used Extras and hate them, with the assumption that USTAs and Extras are the same, just sold in different markets.
That is far from the truth. USTAs are far closer but not quite the same as Derby Premiums and at this point while there is a very slight difference to me, as smooth as on the WTG / XTG but not on the ATG passes which leads me to think that they are just a tad less sharp then their Premium cousins but not by much. Do note for my tests I have been using the blades as a one shave blade. One shave and its recycled.
It is very likely that one or the other will hold its edge longer but both Derby USTAs and Premiums are at a price point ($8 and $12 respectively) especially the USTAs, that there is no reason to try to make them last 3, 5, 10 shaves. At the most I’ll be using them as 1 day shaves (or 2 shaves, Morning and evening clean up)
My own thoughts on them is that they are more then serviceable and so far over several shaves now, they have not caused any irritation in the pursuit of 2 BBS shaves a day. (or my skin’s turned to freaking leather) I’d recommend USTAs for those who don’t like the very very sharp Feathers or Bics and are looking for cheap good blades to get a sample if you can and give them a try. At $8 per 100, these are well worth their price. (I have another 100 on the way 🤣)
