I was thinking of using this yesterday but I thought I saved the best shave for last.
Other than Endurance, which is Old Spice reborn and a favorite due to sentimental reasons, Gratitude is at the moment my other top favorite scent from Soap Commander.
Cedar and spice and all things nice, this scent easily triggers a scent imagery of Thanksgiving, Christmas, the New Year and everything that calls for a celebration.
And a scent that I think many would like to see come back.

Doing Flip Shifts so the shave is actually more a Shave of the Night, but is technically my “morning” and start of the day.
Using the more aggressive Tatara configuration today.
It is easy to forget that this config can bite you if you daydream and it is easy to think of it as a gentle razor on account that it’s so smooth, but as long as I pay attention, the perfect balance of smooth and efficiency will result in a clean, perfect BBS shave.

Unity’s scent is a “perk me up” type.
Fresh, energizing and will give you a hankering for Pancakes with raspberry jam and apple sauce!
If I remember right it was to commemorate a country’s “Team Spirit”, to celebrate the willingness to come together to rebuild, recover and unite against the odds.
Its a good wish, a grand ideal and something the world needs, more than ever.

Amber and Lavender, simple, yet so beautifully done and though I am missing the Aftershave Splash for this one, I’m hoping to fix this when I am able to.

This particular configuration makes this, my favorite (for now) Razor.
Extremely comfortable, and as long as I don’t do anything stupid, will usually result as it did today, with a clean, irritation free, perfect true glass BBS shave.

I don’t think Tenacity is available anymore, at least for the moment, but it is one of the fresher scents from Soap Commander.

Scent notes are White Tea, Black Tea, Earl Grey, Apples, Ginger, Cedar, Spice, Light Citrus, and Light Florals.
It is a fantastic scent and great way to start your day.
Soap Commander soaps besides usually sporting good scent strength, punches above their cost value in quality.

Paired a Derby Premium with the more aggressive Tatara Setup, at this point it seems to be able to take any blade in stride.
Results have always been easy squeaky clean BBS but not always perfect with the odd weeper at times.
Today though, was a perfect shave.

Soap Commander Endurance’s scent is inspired by Old Spice and I can say with confidence that its pretty much bang on.
If you love that scent and especially if you are looking for a soap and splash that is is true to the old Shulton, I’d highly recommend giving Endurance a go.

Am getting used to and have more or less dialed in with the Model T.
It’s not my most comfortable of razors but it is very efficient on account of its blade positive geometry. Paired it with a Derby Premium and it’s fairly smooth.
Just have to be conscious to maintain a zero pressure touch and it was easy sailing resulting with an extremely close BBS shave.

Soap Commander’s Renewal is a Floral Fougere scented soap and as that will suggest this is a more of a fresh green scent. I am not sure what are all the notes though I picked up Lavender, a little cedar, pine, citrus and black tea? There are other notes but I can’t put my finger on them, and I want to say Camphor too but I am not sure if that is the aftershave only or in the soap as well .

Again, used Proraso Green Pre-shave to give the shave that menthol-eucalyptus kick and the combination was very very enjoyable.

17th use of the Feather Pro Super Blade and it is still holding its edge. These blades are nuts.
The Oren is super comfortable resulting in a no cuts, no nicks, no weeper, no irritation BBS shave.
Only minor flaw is the handle and the slight difficulty to get a firm grip at times.

One of Soap Commander’s Best scent, an oceanic amber and mint which is hard to describe until you have used and smelt it.
Kinda of like Blvgari Aqva / Dolce and Gabbana’s Light Blue but less sea-weed, toned down salt with more sweetness and mint.
It’s gloriously intoxicating.

The only thing is, it doesn’t have menthol.
Thus, for today, I’m going to layer in menthol for that ultra cool, ultra fresh shave.
First with Proraso Green Pre-shave, and then, grinding in some menthol into a bowl to lather up a mentholated version of Vision.
It was fabulous!

Having a Bic in a Rockwell is bliss.
Utter freaking bliss.
Smooth, takes everything off without you feeling much of the blade (I know for a fact that the R4 can bite if you daydream / subconsciously press down and put pressure on the blade) and with Soap Commander’s lather, it’s just glide-guillotine leaving only clean, glass BBS skin in the 6S’ wake.

I’ve used up my decant of Creed’s Viking, as that was the first thing I was thinking of when I wanted to paired a scent with Vision, and instead decided to use up an old bottle of JPG’s original Le Male.

For those who prefer lightly scented shave soaps, Soap Commander’s Ambition might be right up your alley.
Lightly scented with Sandalwood, Verbena and Citrus with the verbena and citrus being dominant, it does remind you somewhat of Green Irish Tweed. Scent strength is about 2-3/10 so it is very light.
But soap performance is as always, excellent.

The one thing I am noticing with the Peregrino is that when you load from the tub, unless you load with a very wet brush, it picks up soap that kinds of dries up on the bristles forming a very thick paste in the bristles.
Just add more water before going to face or add water into the bowl as needed to make your lather.
Fibers are still firm and springy but soft on the face.

The Oren and Feather Pro Super blades are a good pairing, 15th use of the blade and its still sharp and giving easy very comfortable irritation free BBS shaves.

So of course I had to use all the shiny new stuff for today’s Morning Shave.

Big Shave S’West scent Notes :
Leather, Chaparral, Smokey Mesquite, Agarwood, Lavender, Red Musk, Basil, Tobacco

The scent notes on this one is a little deceiving, as to my nose at least what pops out at you is more fougere, more green than Leather, Oud or Tobacco.
Instead you get good whiff of Chaparral, Lavendar, Ambery Musk and Basil back by a hint of Oud, bright smoky wood and just that bare hint of leather and tobacco.
The scent is more bright and green with smoky heart.
Almost like if you take Solstice and mix a little of Copalli in. Almost, but just a tad greener.

It is quite a pleasant scent.

The Peregrino Brush performed very well. Soft enough to face lather without being abrasive, firm enough that if you used a bowl, it’ll whip up lather like a champ.
The Handle though is its best feather.
Weighty with good heft and with just the right amount of contours to give your hand and fingers a good grip even if your hand is full of soap.
Good stuff.

The CATA-DOC with a Bic Blade just made getting true glass, squeaky clean, no irritation BBS easy.

Every once in a while I see the “worst shaving soap” (Geo F Trumpers Eucris Hard Puck … FUCK THAT POS!) thread that will pop up and the usual suspects will come up for various reasons and someone will mention Col Conk Bay Rum.

I don’t know what soap they used but it is sure as hell isn’t the one’s I have been using for a while now. Costing around $3.90 to $5.90 depending on the size of the puck you do get quite the bang for your money.

But how’s the shave?
Damn freaking good, with fantastic slickness and residual slickness that you have to wash off with running water several times and post shave feel is actually more then decent.
Slickness and residual will give artisan soaps run for the money, though post shave won’t compare to top tier artisan soaps but its freaking $6 for a 3.75oz puck.
Use a balm (you are going to anyways) if you want to put back more moisture into your face.

All in all, it was a fantastic shave.
Scent strength is middle road, more light-mid (3 or 4 / 10) but you can definitely make out the Rose Bay Rum scent and very enjoyable.
